about

Sample heavy instrumental album with beats galore, and dreamy ambient textures.

"Tapping In", and "Why Do We" contain vocal clips from John Emmons a longtime Las Vegas poet, artist, and musician who passed away in 2023. Two of those clips were taken with permission from The Parkway of Broken Dreams Documentary by PJ Perez that features interviews with Emmons.

"Yams" and "Why Don't We" are also featured tracks on the Low Key Zine volume 5, a local zine and cassette release that showcases Las Vegas musicians and producers.

The Vortex is named after an unpublished book written by John Emmons that he gifted me (along with a bunch of music gear and cases), before moving back to the east coast to spend his few remaining years with the love of his life. In his words in a note, he left me in the book, "The book The Vortex is a random Burroughs style cut up... I have the original. There should be enough words to last you a while. PS you can now include my name as Producer HA HA HA - facilitator? - John Emmons"

Recorded at my home studio in Las Vegas, also known as the "Meditation Station". Main culprits include Roland SP 404SX, BOSS Dr. Rhythm DR-660, Korg Volca Modular, Casio Pt-1, Glarry Electric Bass Guitar, phone recordings sent through analog tape recorder, and plenty of Labs plugins.
